Jonathan Halpert said his urgent-care center in Guilderland has served as a stopgap in recent months for Hilltowns health after the only doctor’s office in Berne closed.

ALTAMONT — Boy Scouts in Altamont’s Troop 264 do many things to better their Scout skills and apply them to help the people in the village.

Over the course of the last month, the troop has worked on an Eagle Scout project, building a fellowship area for the American Legion.

The Helderberg Family and Community Organization partnered with Military Mom in Action of Melrose, New York, for this project to send care packages for military service members.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo secondary school has been upgraded and the neighboring elementary school will be renovated, in phases, throughout the school year, as part of a $20 million bond project.

This past weekend at the Altamont Fairgrounds held the over 70th annual Capital District Scottish Games.

On Wednesday morning, the kids of the Hilltowns arrived at the Berne-Knox-Westerlo primary and secondary schools to start off the 2019-2020 school year.
