RENSSELAERVILLE — The Carey Institute’s Sustainable Communities Program has been granted $62,080 from the United States Department of Agriculture to offer technical assistance to breweries and other craft-beverage producers in rural communities across the state.

Woongje Sung, an associate professor of nanoengineering at SUNY Polytechnic Institute, has received $2,103,000 in funding from the Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy as part of a collaborative research effort with teams from Ohio State University and North Carolina State University.

Bernard J. Malone Jr. received The Trustees Gold Medal from Albany Law School at Albany Law’s 2019 Grand Honors Awards.

Katherine Herlihy has rejoined Whiteman Osterman & Hanna LLP as a partner.

She left Whiteman three years ago to serve as general counsel at the Life Insurance Council of New York.  Prior to that, she was an associate at Whiteman Osterman & Hanna from 2008 to 2016.

Roadway crashes involving agricultural vehicles were found to be five times more fatal than that of non-ag crashes, according to a recent study published by the New York Center for Agricultural Medicine and Health.

The Helderberg Kiwanis Club donated school backpacks for 27 students at Berne-Knox-Westerlo. Each pack included school supplies and new sneakers.
