Packing with care: Ashley and Joaquin Abraham were among 14 Berne-Knox-Westerlo students and their parents and community members who gathered and assembled care packages for military service members. The Altamont American Legion Post 977, the American Legion Riders, and Altamont’s Veterans of foreign War Post all made donations.

Bryson Prusky, a member of the Helderberg Hearts and Hands Club, beams as he shows a snack pack — one of 1,000 care packages containing snacks, treats, letters, and pictures to active duty military men and women. The Helderberg Family and Community Organization partnered with Military Mom in Action of Melrose, New York for the project. Goods were collected at Altamont Agway, Stewart’s, Fox Creek Market, Roasted Garlic, Knox Market Café, and P&L Deli.
