CLARKSVILLE — On Oct. 2, Jim Schaller will speak about pioneer surveyor Verplanck Colvin, hosted by the Clarksville Historical Society at 7 p.m. at the Clarksville Community Church.

BETHLEHEM — Two local sustainability groups have announced a public talk on “Beyond Plastics” on Sept. 26 at the Bethlehem Middle School auditorium.

The Autism Society of the Greater Capital Region will offer an Autism Fitness Level 1 certification program on Oct. 5 and 6, in partnership with the Ring Around The Spectrum gym in Latham.

GUILDERLAND — Guilderhaven will be attending the first-ever Indian Ladder Farms Dog Day and Pet Adoption Event on Saturday, Sept. 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The rain date is Sunday, Sept. 15.

DELMAR — The Mendelssohn Club of Albany will hold auditions beginning in September for male singers interested in joining the club for its 111th season. Interested tenors and basses are invited to rehearse with the club on Wednesday evenings starting Sept. 4 at 7:15 p.m. at the New Covenant Presbyterian Church at 916 Western Ave.

RENSSELAERVILLE — The Helderberg Brewery is offering a series of brewing and fermentation workshops through the end of the year. The series, Funky Fermentation, will be led by Helderberg Brewery’s brewer, Jamie Caligure, and will highlight how brewers can source local ingredients and brew seasonal beverages in their own homes.

GUILDERLAND — Guilderhaven will be attending the Guilderland Farmers Market, at the intersection of routes 155 and 20, on Sundays, Sept. 8 and 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

BETHLEHEM — As part of their Fall Speaker Series, the Bethlehem Historical Association is presenting a talk by Dr. Susan Ingalls Lewis entitled “Business Women in Mid-Nineteenth Century Albany” on Thursday, Sept. 19, at 2 p.m. at the Delmar Reformed Church.

RENSSELAERVILLE — An unusual book club at the Carey Institute for Global Good wants to to get community members together to encourage dialogue about social issues like climate change and prison reform.
