ALTAMONT — “The world lost an exquisite human being on Thursday, March 22, 2018. Barbara Denise Harris was born on July 26, 1952, into a life of excruciating pain and magnificent beauty,” her family wrote in a tribute.

WESTERLO — Vera Barber Coffey, a woman who built her life around “family, faith, and friends,” died on Sunday morning, March 25, 2018. She was 96.

“Family, faith, and friends … ,” said her daughter, Karen Barber. “Each one was important to her in a different way.”

ALTAMONT — Lena Capuano, a religious woman active in church and community affairs, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 26, 2018. She was 90.

She was born in Saranac Lake on Jan. 17, 1928 to the late Luigi and Eliza Bargnesi Sorcinelli.

Everett Rau

ALTAMONT — Everett Rau, who lived and died on the farm his family had tended for more than two centuries, did more than make do with what he had. He transcended it.

Audrey Cline

Audrey Ann “Penny” Cline, a physical therapist who also helped her husband run a funeral home and florist, died on Thursday, March 22, 2018, following a long illness with her loving husband by her side. She was 76.

KNOX — Robert H. Finke, a World War II veteran who started his own equipment business, died on Monday, March 5, 2018, at his son’s home in Knox. He was 90.

He was born on July 8, 1927, in Albany to Henry and Jennie Finke.

GUILDERLAND — Rose Ann (née Amadeo) McNamara, who liked to help and entertain others, died peacefully at home with family on Tuesday, March 13, 2018, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was 86.

Margaret Charboneau

Margaret “Peg” (née Laurence) Charboneau of Baldwinsville, an educator who help shape music curricula across New York State, died on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at Syracuse Home at McHarrie Place. She was 91.

WESTERLO — Anthony James Bader, a Navy veteran and a lifelong resident of Westerlo, died on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. He was 60.

Martha Sanderson

ALTAMONT — Marti Sanderson was “a devoted mother of three, and a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother,” said her husband, Richard Sanderson Sr.

Martha “Marti” (née Hoyt) Sanderson died at Saint Peter’s Hospital in Albany surrounded by her family on Monday, March 12, 2018. She was 73.

Judith A. Newcomb

ALTAMONT — Judith A. Newcomb, a mother and grandmother who had worked as a dental assistant, died at the Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s in Albany on Friday, March 9, 2018. She was 82.

Born on June 14, 1935, in Albany to the late Mildred (née Laraway) and Clarence Barber, she grew up on her family’s dairy farm in Middleburgh.

Richard M. Guilz

EAST BERNE — Richard M. Guilz, a man devoted to his family and community, died with his loving family by his side at St. Peter’s Hospice on Saturday, March 10, 2018.

Jason Thomas Gerdsmeier

Jason Thomas Gerdsmeier had a passion for writing and meeting the homeless and learning their stories, his mother said.

“His dream was to make a place where people could heal by helping others,” said Pauline Gerdsmeier.

Mr. Gerdsmeier died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 1, 2018, in Crossville, Tennessee. He was 28.

GUILDERLAND — Paul D. Degener was a man of quiet grit who had a lifelong passion for muscle cars and a silly, sarcastic sense of humor, said his son, Brian Degener.

Mr. Degener “passed away surrounded by his loving family” on Saturday, March 3, 2018, his family wrote in a tribute. He was 70.
