Robert H. Finke

KNOX — Robert H. Finke, a World War II veteran who started his own equipment business, died on Monday, March 5, 2018, at his son’s home in Knox. He was 90.

He was born on July 8, 1927, in Albany to Henry and Jennie Finke.

Mr. Finke served in the Navy during World War II, and shortly after married his lifelong sweetheart, Betty Jean Francisco.

“Bob and Betty married on Dec. 5, 1948 and enjoyed a tremendous 69 years together,” his family wrote in a tribute.

They had four children together and, in 1977, Mr. Finke started Finke Equipment with his son John out of their garage. “Bob had a brilliant mind and was a self-taught accountant for the business,” his family wrote. “He started with nothing, but with persistence and hard work he lived the American dream.”

Mr. and Mrs. Finke enjoyed their retirement years together, taking many trips and eventually living in Port Saint Lucie, Florida.

“Bob was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend,” his family wrote. “He made an impact on everyone’s lives he touched and he will be greatly missed.”
