Dancing in the classroom, inclusion, Lynnwood Elementary School

How do kids in a co-taught classroom — one in which kids with disabilities learn alongside those without — really feel about the class?

A 40-plus-year tradition — of taking the entire eighth-grade class to the high-school for a free performance of the Guilderland Players’ musical — was done away with recently, and not everyone is happy about it.

The Guilderland school district anticipates being able to add new items to next year’s budget and wants to hear from residents, through its online survey, about what those should be.

At a packed hearing Tuesday, twice as many New Scotland residents spoke in favor of Cynthia Elliott’s plan for a party venue as spoke against.

A former resort and relic of the 1940s and ’50s has been bought with the intention to restore it and possibly rent it to local businesses in the town of Westerlo.

BETHLEHEM — A jury on Feb. 2 found John DeFlumer, 59, of Delmar, guilty of drunk driving.

His case was heard in Bethlehem Town Court with Andrew W. Kirby presiding. DeFlumer was found guilty of driving while intoxicated, DWI per se, and operating an uninspected vehicle — all misdemeanors.

Voorheesville Elementary students took to the stage to show off their talents on Friday, Jan 27 at the High School.

Before hitting the stage on Friday Jan 27, parents and children could take a look at the plans for the new Voorheesville Elementary playground that will be built. 

On Saturday, Jan 28, BKW hosted the Yankee Doodle Circus at the high school. The event was a fundraiser for the Class of 2018

Local tech company owner Jonathan Cobb is accused of raping a heavily intoxicated 18-year-old acquaintance of his daughter’s at the family home in Guilderland.

A chimney fire was put out by the Westerlo Fire Department Wednesday morning. Two residents, including a lifetime member of the department, escaped, but the house will have to be rebuilt after its chimney was knocked down to control the rest of the fire inside.
