In a two-day event, the Guilderland Dutchmen winter track-and-field team took to the track Saturday, Feb. 18, in Saratoga and Monday morning, Feb. 20 at the University at Albany, in attempt to win a sectional title and to move onto the state qualifiers this Sunday.

Berne-Knox-Westerlo boys’ and girls’ basketball teams showed their teeth last week in the Class C sectional games, the boys against Berlin, Fri Feb 17 and the girls against Stillwater, Tues Feb 21.

Twelve wrestlers from Guilderland and Berne-Knox-Westerlo/Voorheesville, made it to the state qualifiers at the Glens Falls Civic Center this past weekend but will advance no further.

The Guilderland Dutchmen wrestling team took the mat on Saturday morning, Feb. 4, at Schenectady High School, looking for Class A sectional titles. Guilderland finished in sixth place with 104.50 points.

The Dutch finished second overall with 164.025.

BKW-Voorheesville wrestlers were able to place at the Section II Class CC Wrestling Tournament last Saturday at Cohoes High School.

Starting off on the right foot: Berne-Knox-Westerlo boys’ basketball team played Friday evening at home at full strength for the first time all season — football injuries had earlier sidelined several players. The Bulldogs beat Fort Plain High School decisively — 76 to 52.

New team, same results for the Guilderland varsity winter cheer team, which was fifth in the state last year in the Co-ed Division.

On Wednesday, Feb 1, Voorheesville Senior Veda Hensel officially signs her letter of intent to play soccer at Niagara University.
