ALTAMONT — Carol Ann Bruce of Altamont died peacefully at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015, after a nine-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

“Carol was a tremendous wife, mother, grandmother and friend and a well-loved resident of Altamont for over 40 years,” her family wrote in a tribute.

Dripping Springs, TEXAS — Michael Robert Quay, who loved film and song, died on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015. He was 28. 

Michael was born to Susan Elizabeth Quay and Michael Edwin Shaffer, of Schenectady, in 1986.

DELANSON — Robert E. Friebel, a Vietnam combat veteran, died unexpectedly on Friday, Sept. 28, 2015. He was 64.

Born in Schenectady on Oct. 15, 1950, he was the son of the late Robert Friebel and Marjorie and Bud Geier. Known to his friends and family as Bobby, Mr. Friebel graduated from Guilderland High School in 1968.

WESTERLO — Marion Dunbar Cooper, a homemaker and ceramist, died on Monday morning, Sept. 28, 2015, in the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was 88.

WESTERLO — Earnest A. “Ernie” Hallock, a long-time highway worker, died on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015, at his Westerlo home. He was 81.

Born in Albany on Dec. 7, 1933, he was son of the late Alanson J. and Violet Harrington Hallock.

GUILDERLAND — Mary Stuart Manning, a free-spirited woman dedicated to her family, died in her home on Thursday, Sept. 17, 2015.

Mrs. Manning was born in Port Byron, New York, to Jessie Weaver Manning and Ralph Monroe Manning on Feb. 22, 1926.

ALTAMONT — The simple phrases uttered to family and friends who do motocross summed up James Pearce’s nature:

“He always had a smile,” his father, Stephen Pearce, said. “He was always, ‘lighten up and let’s go.’”

WESTERLO — Daniel P. Brate Sr., a generous and enterprising man who loved his family and friends, died on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015 at Community Hospice in St. Peter’s Hospital in Albany. He was 92.

“He still had opinions and comments right down to the very end,” said his daughter, Regine Brate.

RENSSELAERVILLE — Bryanna Lee Tanner from Rensselaerville was 13 years old when, her family wrote in a tribute, “she entered eternal rest” on Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015 at Albany Medical Center. She was born on Nov. 22, 2001.

GUILDERLAND — Robert C. Dinovo died unexpectedly on Sept. 9, 2015. He was 56.

Mr. Dinovo was born in Albany to the late Salvatore and Joan (Bonitz) Dinovo.

He graduated from Guilderland High School in 1977 and received a degree in horticulture from Delhi University.

SCHUYLERVILLE — Ellen “Billie” Louise Trossbach, a United States Coast Guard veteran, died on Sunday, Sept. 12, 2015, at her son’s home surrounded by her loved ones, after a brief illness. She was 92.

KNOX — Michael S. Slingerland, who liked to motorcycle in the summer and snowmobile in the winter, died unexpectedly at his home Wednesday, Sept. 9, 2015. He was 52.
