Marion Dunbar Cooper

WESTERLO — Marion Dunbar Cooper, a homemaker and ceramist, died on Monday morning, Sept. 28, 2015, in the Community Hospice Inn at St. Peter’s Hospital after a brief illness. She was 88.

“Marion enjoyed going to the family camp on Lake Ontario and watching her great-grandchildren swim in the lake,” her family wrote in a tribute.

Born on Aug. 4, 1927 in Jersey City, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Dorothy Dunbar.  She and her late husband, Robert, were married at the end of World War II and settled in Westerlo. Their marriage ended only with his death, on Aug. 23, 2005.

She was a homemaker and ran a ceramics shop out of her home several years ago.

She is survived by her children, Robert H. Cooper and his wife, Carol, Richard J. Cooper, and Gail Bushnell; five grandchildren, Wayne Cooper and his wife, Kara, Lori Gebe and her husband, Matthew, Steven Cooper and his wife, Mary, Thomas Bushnell and his wife, Trista, and Allison Bushnell; 12 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Her parents died before her, as did her husband, Robert W. Cooper.

Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at A.J. Cunningham Funeral Home, 4898 Route 81, Greenville.  The funeral will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by burial in Westerlo Rural Cemetery. Mourners may leave online condolences at ajcunninghamfh.com.
