NEW SCOTLAND — AARP Tax-Aide, the nation’s largest, free, volunteer-run tax assistance and preparation service, will once again be preparing income tax returns at St. Matthew’s Parish Center in Voorheesville beginning on Feb. 13.

St. John’s Lutheran Church at 140 Maple Ave. in Altamont will hold Sunday worship services at 8:30 and 11 a.m.

Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m.

Pastor Gregory Zaja will give a sermon at the 11 a.m. service titled Something More Important Than Being Right, based on First Corinthians 8:1-13.

Albany County Executive Daniel P. McCoy has been elected to serve as first vice president of the New York State County Executives’ Association, a statewide bipartisan association of county executives from across the state.

ALBANY COUNTY — Christopher D. Horn, an assistant district attorney for Albany County who heads the Legal Affairs Bureau, received the 2015 Robert M. Morgenthau Award from the District Attorneys Association of the State of New York.

ALBANY COUNTY — District Attorney P. David Soares has appointed two assistant district attorneys as bureau chiefs — Eric M. Galarneau will head the Street Crimes Unit and Shannon K. Corbitt will lead the Major Crimes Unit.
