Free tax prep in Voorheesville

NEW SCOTLAND — AARP Tax-Aide, the nation’s largest, free, volunteer-run tax assistance and preparation service, will once again be preparing income tax returns at St. Matthew’s Parish Center in Voorheesville beginning on Feb. 13.

Each year from early February through April 15th. American Association of Retired Persons Tax-Aide volunteers prepare and electronically file federal and state tax returns for low- and middle-income taxpayers, to anyone of any age with special attention to those aged 60 and older. Membership in AARP is not required.

Volunteers, who are trained and certified by the IRS, also provide free electronic filing of tax returns including direct deposit of refunds, etc. Appointments are required.

Tax return preparation will begin at St. Matthew’s Parish Center starting Friday, Feb. 13 and on three additional Fridays: Feb. 20, Feb. 27, and March 7. To make an appointment, call the parish office at 765-2805, ext. 16.
