BERNE — Ellen D. Yarmchuk, formerly of Berne, died on Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2014, at her home, in Rogersville, Tennessee. She was 92.

Mrs. Yarmchuk was born on Nov. 21, 1921, in Troy, to the late William and Julia (née Satterlee) Dobbs.

BERNE — Always cooking and gardening, Sarah Deitz was an active woman who was comfortable making pies and logging wood.

Mrs. Deitz died on Monday, Nov. 17, 2014 at Tranquility Hospice in Marietta, Georgia. She was 93.

KING WILLIAM, Virginia — George “Skip” Henry Winters III, formerly of Voorheesville, died on Monday, Nov. 10, 2014. He was 59.

Mr. Winters graduated from Voorheesville Central Schools in 1974.

ALBANY — John J. “Jack” Helm — who loved working on cars and motorcycles, and helping his friends and family — died unexpectedly at Albany Medical Center Hospital on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014.  He was 55.

Mr. Helm, who lived in Albany, had worked for many years as an auto body technician.

ALTAMONT — Rhona Ballard Twombly, a baker, gardener, and dedicated grandmother, died on Wednesday, Nov. 5, 2014, after a brief illness. She was 102.

Mrs. Twombly was born in Georgia, Vermont, on farmland her Ballard antecedents bought from Ira Allen, brother of Revolutionary War patriot Ethan Allen, in the 1780s.

EAST BERNE — Robert Miller loved his family and his faithful companions, golden retreivers Sable and Zeva.

Mr. Miller died at his home on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2014. He was 75.

He was born in Albany on Aug. 13, 1939, to the late Ethan and Emma (née Remley) Miller.

GUILDERLAND — Jane “Mitch” Harrington, a dedicated volunteer who enjoyed the outdoors, died on Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014, at her home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 64.

Mrs. Harrington was born on Sept. 27, 1950, in Schenectady, the daughter of the late Stanley and Roberta (née Jette) Mitchell.

GUILDERLAND — Named Citizen of the Year for the town she loved and served, Bertie Chesebrough was active in church, Scouts, the fire department, and more. A devoted wife and mother, she taught children Bible stories and helped feed the needy.
