To the Editor:

A few numbers:

$21,921,272.oo for the 2014-15 Berne-Knox-Westerlo budget. Approximately 50 percent to be raised locally, from an estimated district population of about 6,600 residents.

To the Editor:

Girl Scout Troop 1758 of Berne-Knox-Westerlo would like to thank the wonderful American Legion of Altamont for not only letting us use its spacious facilities but also doing the tasty cooking of the chicken parmesan for our Italian dinner last week.

To the Editor:

I was glad to see that the Guilderland Police will be carrying a heroin overdose injection remedy. That is a good thing.

To the Editor:

Gil DeLucia was a friend to all of us!

I would like to thank Alice Begley for the wonderful article that she wrote in last week’s Altamont Enterprise about the history of Gilbert DeLucia’s drugstore.  It truly brought back great memories about Gilbert’s store and the true gentleman that he was.

To the Editor:

Want to make a difference?

The Albany Therapeutic Riding Center is looking for volunteers to join our team.

We serve cognitively and physically challenged individuals, using horseback riding as therapy.

Training is provided for all potential volunteers.

To the Editor:

Mother’s Day is a special occasion to celebrate the women in our lives who take the time to care for us. Many women in the Albany area take on the role of Fresh Air mom, as they open their hearts to New York City children through The Fresh Air Fund’s Volunteer Host Family Program.

To the Editor:

This is addressed to my fellow Berne-Knox-Westerlo voters.

You and I might not agree on every issue facing our school district. We may even have voted for different candidates in recent elections.

To the Editor:

We are finally into May; hopefully, warm weather to follow.

The Knox Volunteer Fire Company Ladies’ Auxiliary will be placing American flags by mailboxes along Route 156, the main route through Knox, the week before Memorial Day.

To the Editor:

The Berne-Knox-Westerlo PTA is hosting a Meet the Candidates event for the BKW Board of Education on Wednesday, May 14.

Three people are running for two volunteer positions.

To the Editor:

I am writing this letter to ask you to re-elect Vasilios Lafkaditis to the Berne-Knox-Westerlo School Board on Tuesday, May 20.

Vasilios is a hard worker for the board. He is seriously concerned about the facts and figures, maybe because he is the managing director of Shaw Funding, a hedge fund.

To the Editor:

Hey out there in the land of the living, I need a little help! Let me introduce myself. I’m the Thompsons Lake Rural Cemetery. I’m tucked into a cozy corner at the south end of Thompsons Lake, right where State Route 157 intersects with Thacher Park Road, just across from the Thompsons Lake Reformed Church.

To the Editor:

I have attended many board of education meetings at Berne-Knox-Westerlo Central School the past year.

To the Editor:

We are neighbors of Vaslios Lefkaditis, and would like to take this opportunity to state what a good neighbor, and family man he is.
