GUILDERLAND — The trustees for the Guilderland Public Library, by unanimous vote, have proposed a $2.66 million budget for next year, up about $238,000 or 9.85 percent from this year.

VOORHEESVILLE — Joseph Pofit, president of the Voorheesville School Board, is a confident straight shooter, whose ideas are well thought out.





Gary Hubert, often wearing khakis and a striped button-down shirt, has been a soft-spoken observer at school board meetings in recent years. He started attending board meetings five years ago, he said, because of budget concerns.





VOORHEESVILLE — School board President Joseph Pofit is being challenged in his race for re-election by long-term community member Gary Hubert.





WESTERLO — Sam the cat led a long life plagued by health problems and capped by a mysterious death that resulted in the suspension of his vet by the New York State Department of Education.





VOORHEESVILLE — For the third year in a row, the Voorheesville Public Library remains in the planning stage of a building expansion. The $880,880 budget proposed for next year does not incorporate any funding for major construction.





KNOX — The town board raised the ire of some Knox citizens last week when it considered holding public hearings on two proposed laws: one a moratorium on windmills, and the other an ordinance aimed at curbing noise from dirt bikes.





RENSSELAERVILLE — The highway superintendent, often criticized in Rensselaerville, is under fire again. The town’s attorney said G. Jon Chase broke state law by loading salt and sand from the town’s supply into a private citizen’s truck.
