Provechito: The owner of a sit-down and take-out Mexican restaurant in Rotterdam, also called Casa Real, is opening a second store with the same name in Carman Plaza, in a site that was formerly Ciao Italia and, before that, Chef’s Take Out.

GUILDERLAND — “Because there are no good Mexican restaurants around here,” said Juan Carlos De La Paz when asked why he decided to open a second Casa Real in Guilderland’s Carman Plaza. De La Paz also owns a restaurant by the same name, which is pronounced casa ray-AHL, in the Hannaford Plaza in Rotterdam.

The take-out and sit-down restaurant at 3770 Carman Road — at its intersection with Old State Road — is scheduled to open in the second week of September. It will occupy the space that was formerly Ciao Italia and, before that, Chef’s Take Out.

It will seat 100 and serve “a little bit of everything,” including chimichangas, enchiladas, quesadillas, sizzling fajitas, steak dishes, chicken dishes, and kids’ plates, said De La Paz.
