“We are seeing significant declines in early elementary enrollment and future kindergarten projections,” Superintendent Marie Wiles told the school board. “If that holds true, that is going to work its way through the whole organization and it will be really important that the district, as hard as it is, right sizes staff as that happens.”

The $614 million facility sits on a 72.5 acre site and is part of the state and semiconductor industry’s $10 billion investment in semiconductor research at the University at Albany.

On Saturday, March 8, Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Bethlehem, Guilderland, and Voorheesville indoor track athletes took to the track at Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex in the New York State Public High School track championships.

On Friday, March 7, Guilderville’s Isak Brkanovic and Bethlehem’s Owen Lilly took to the pool at Ithaca College for the New York State Public High School Athletic Association’s championships. Brkanovic competed in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle and Lilly in the 100-meter butterfly.

The town’s Republican committee is holding a meeting on March 12 to find leadership, according to Mark Grimm, a long-time Republican county legislator, who is organizing the event.

On March 18, Mayor Kerry Dineen, trustees John Scally and Sandra Serafino, and Justice James Greene are running unopposed, each for a four-year term.

The next budget workshop is scheduled for March 13, at 6 p.m., at the village hall.
