Jim and I enjoy cruising for many reasons as you well know, if you are a regular reader. Of course, we like the food, the royal treatment and the relaxation. However, we enjoy the opportunity to learn new things each time we get off the ship and take a tour.

GUILDERLAND — A Schenectady man pleaded guilty, in Albany County’s Supreme Court on Friday, to driving while intoxicated, in Guilderland, a felony.

These local students have been named to the president’s list at Hudson Valley Community College for the fall 2013 term, with a grade-point average between 3.5 and 4.0:

— Maria Commisso of Altamont, in the diagnostic medical sonography academic program;
