GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland Martial Arts team recently brought home 30 medals — 14 gold, nine silver, and seven bronze — from the New York State Taekwondo Championships at Queens College. 

“All the students achieved their various goals ranging from participating in their first tournament to winning a gold,” said Master Robert Rice; Guilderland Martial Arts had 20 students at the competition. “This year I was very impressed with my team’s preparation and attention to detail. They demonstrated excellent team spirit and great character.”

The Guilderland students competed in floor exercises (patterns or forms), wood breaking, weapon forms, and sparring. “The students worked every day to prepare for this event,” Rice said.
