Jackie Silvestri put her marketing degree to good use last fall as she began taking the temperature of The Altamont Community, asking members what type of restaurant they’d like to see opened in the village.

Guilderland’s Nordic team travelled to Gore Mountain Ski Bowl in North Creek to participate in the Lake George/Glens Falls Nordic Invitational on Jan. 30. The competition was delayed due to wind chill temperatures being eight below.

ALTAMONT — Elizabeth J. “Betty” Ward — a devoted mother who cared for others until the very end — died on Monday, Feb. 1, 2021, at her Altamont home. She was 90.

“She was amazing — always the caregiver, always loving and helpful, the best mom you could have,” said her daughter, Judy Bailey.

Every time Jay Tyler, Guilderland’s emergency medical services director, has put in a request for 100 doses of COVID-19 vaccine — the minimum amount that can be asked for — the answer has been the same: The super-cold cupboards are bare.

In Guilderland, the Dunkin’ Donuts in Star Plaza on Route 20 is rarity — a suburban shop without a drive-through. It’s now looking to change that. 

Coffee Company owners Michael Ward and Stefanie Stegman formerly operated the Knox Café, a lunch spot that relocated to Clarksville in 2019 and was renamed the Crowing Hen Cafe.
