Pillowcases — 143 in all — sit on a table inside Maria Mac Entee’s classroom at Farnsworth Middle School on Wednesday’s morning prior to being donated to the Bernard & Millie Duker Foundation at Albany Medical Center.

ALTAMONT — Stanley L. Dean Jr. of Altamont, a dedicated family man, died at home on Thursday, June 3, 2021. He was 87.

Born in Delhi, New York on Sept. 18, 1933, he was the son of Dr. Stanley and Gertrude (née Wagner) Dean.

With COVID protocol still going on within the schools, Section 2 track n’ field sectionals were held in groups, based on school size, this past week at different schools.

The Guilderland Dutchmen baseball team travelled to Christian Brothers Academy on Saturday, June 5th, for a Suburban Council matchup in the season finale in preparation for sectionals this week.

On Thursday, June 3rd, the Guilderland Dutchmen boys tennis team battled Shenendehowa at home in the regular season finale to determine position for the upcoming team sectional championships. The Dutch lost 9-0 then battled Shaker in sectionals and fell 6-3.

Crossgates Mall filed an Article 7 petition against the town in July of last year, seeking a $139 million reduction on its $282.5 million tax assessment.

Guilderland since January has been looking for additional proof from Crossgates Mall that its property “is not income-producing,” a request Guilderland first made in October of last year in its response to the mall’s August 2020 court filing seeking to cleave its $282.5 million assessed value in half.

ALTAMONT — Dick Howie met Ellen Ferry when they were in the Ramsey High School band. She was a freshman, playing the French horn; he was a junior who sat nearby, playing the trombone.

State Senator George Amedore, a Republican who did not seek re-election in 2020, sponsored a $700,000 grant for improvements to Tawasentha Park while Assemblywoman Patricia Fahy backed a $375,000 grant that will pay for bike paths, better sound at the senior center, and an upgraded platform at the Altamont library.
