Guilderland

Everyday activities and sounds can seem very strange when you are deep in thought. I was reading the latest book that I picked up at the library when my cell phone rang and made me jump. Although the ring tone is very familiar, hearing it in the quiet of my home while engrossed in my new book was almost alarming.

The Guilderland Senior Services is offering the following activities the week of   March 10. Call the senior office at 356-1980, ext. 1048 for any questions or information.

GUILDERLAND — Ken and Karen McIver of Altamont and Ben and Christine Murray of Guilderland are happy to announce the engagement of their children, Doug McIVer and Mollie O’Brien.

"It's funny, well written and has great moments of humor and honesty," says the director of the Guilderland Players' All Shook Up, a jukebox musical featuring Elvis Presley hits.

The Sound of Music will be performed March 7 through 9 at the middle school, 6072 State Farm Rd. in Guilderland.

Guilderland seniors, best friends, and training partners, Josh LoGiudice and Mike Lainhart, wrestled at States for the second consecutive year.

It was Guilderland's Class AA title to lose.

The school district and town are splitting the appraisal fee to defend the town's $17.4 million assessment of Executive Park.

Guilderland wants to experiment by buying school buses with two different kinds of step wells to see which wears better. The district also plans to buy only large buses since it is contracting out runs with small buses.

To the Editor:

This is an open letter to Governor Andrew Cuomo, and to the members of the New York State Senate and Assembly.

There is a public-service organization in every community in this state that returns $7 in service for every dollar it receives, and that is your local library.
