Altamont Boy Scout Troop 264 would like to thank the Altamont community for generously supporting the annual food and can drive to stock the shelves of the Altamont Food Pantry and to support troop activities.

Around town, you may be noticing the bright green signs in some local shops saying “We Are Guilderlocal!” This is not just another shop-local campaign.

This is us, as a business and community organization, trying to rally everyone to use your local vendors and help build us up as a community.

ALTAMONT — Marc Smith grew up in Altamont, in a pillared house that looks like it came from Gone with the Wind. As a kid, he delivered newspapers, riding his bike up and down village streets — “not throwing them, but taking each newspaper to the door,” he says.

There are plenty of new faces for the Guilderland basketball team — including the head coach — but the foundation doesn't have to be rebuilt.  

Kaitlyn Drobner last Thursday said she came up with the coat drive Katie’s Koats, now in its third year, when she visited New York City and saw a homeless veteran.

Elementary students gave author Jeff Kinney a rock-star welcome in Guilderland last Thursday. 

Brenda McClaine was a math teacher at Guilderland when she stole over $100,000 in union funds. She was sentenced last week to six months, served on weekends, so she will coninue working at the district office.

Guilderland High school Assistant Principal Ann-Marie McManus said the school wants to be the first stop for prevention and intervention when it comes to illegal drug use.

Runners from Guilderland had a successful fall season.
