RAVENA — The Grace United Methodist Church at 16 Hillcrest Drive in Ravena is having a huge mid-winter book sale, with over 33,000 titles, as well as a mini rummage sale on several dates at the end of February.

ALTAMONT — Joseph T. Knightes Jr., a devoted father, died on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015. He was 29.

Mr. Knightes was born on Aug. 19, 1985 and raised in Guilderland and Altamont.

ALTAMONT — Beryl E. Naginey, also known as “Murph,” a woman with many interests who was dedicated to her community, died peacefully on Friday, Jan. 23, 2015, after a 19-year struggle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 89.

GUILDERLAND — Over 50 people came to school on a recent cold winter’s night — parents and their children — to talk about a book. No one was required to read the book but those who had gathered pursued it with passion.
