There was no joking around for the Guilderland Dutchmen football team April 1 as they played the Raiders of Colonie. As snow fell during the start of the game, the Dutch led by their defense and elusive ground attack, winning 48-to-6.

The Guilderland Girls Varsity volleyball team took to the court on Monday, April 5th against Colonie at Guilderland High School in Guilderland Center. The Dutch never trailed in the three-set sweep; 25-20, 25-16, 25-18 of the Raiders.

Teumim to give benefit concert

Capital Region singer-songwriter Phil Teumim will present a concert of original songs in a performance to benefit B’nai Sholom Reform Congregation and Family Promise of the Capital Region.

The concert will be streamed live on YouTube Saturday on April 17 at 7:30 p.m. 

Altamont to adopt flat $2.5M budget for next year — sewer customers face hike

Altamont’s tax rate for next year is set to be the same as this year: $1.97 per $1,000 of assessed value. And for the second year in a row, the board of trustees plans to levy approximately $300,100 in property taxes, which is about $8,000 below the state-set levy limit.

Westmere man sentenced to 25 years for sexually exploiting a child

GUILDERLAND — Blake Spears, 40, of Westmere, was sentenced on Friday to 300 months in prison for sexually exploiting a child.

The announcement was made by Acting United States Attorney Antoinette T. Bacon and Thomas F. Relford, special agent in charge of the Albany Field Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
