Tuesday afternoon on May 25, the Guilderland Dutchmen Unified team took to the court against Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake at home. The Guilderland pep band was on hand to bring smiles to the kids. The Dutch led from start to finish and beat the Spartans, 45-to-35.
Last Thursday, May 20, the Guilderland Dutchmen girls lacrosse team faced off against Colonie on the field but the Dutch’s mind was also thinking of their fellow teammate Jenna Meier who's battling Ewing’s Sarcoma.
On Saturday, May 22, Guilderland softball squared off against Suburban Council foe in Shaker at home. Guilderland led from the first-inning and had to have some insurance runs late as Shaker attempted a rally in the top of the seventh. Guilderland won 11-to-9.
“I feel unwelcome here. I feel alienated, I feel attacked, and I feel scared ….,” said Savanna Jiang in a speech that at times sounded like a poem. She concluded, “We must demand change …. It begins right here.”
Albany County Sheriff's Inspector J.T. Campbell said there had been approximately 20 different incidents where someone had dumped nails on a Guilderland or New Scotland road.
