On Monday morning, Feb. 24, the Guilderland Nordic skiing team took to the chilly Ski Bowl at Gore Mountain in the New York State Public High School Athletic Association's Nordic state championship. Guilderland had two competitors, Landon Kinal and Nathaniel Burke.
GUILDERLAND — With funding from New York state, the school distinct here is offering free pre-kindergarten classes for the next school year.
Five venues work with the school district in providing preschool classes since the Guilderland schools do not have the space or staff to house the program.
Starting Jan. 1, rules went into effect that significantly expand New York state’s jurisdiction over freshwater wetlands with the aim of protecting a million additional acres of wetland habitats.
This past weekend, Feb. 15 and 17, the Berne-Knox-Westerlo, Guilderland, and Voorheesville indoor track teams competed in their Section 2 divisional championships at Hudson Valley Community College to compete for a spot in Saturday’s state qualifiers.
From Thursday to Saturday, Feb. 13 to 15, the Guilderland-Voorheesville swim team competed against the other top Division 1 schools in the Section 2 championships at Shenendehowa High School. Isak Brkanovic qualified for multiple events at states on March 7.
Last Wednesday, Feb. 12, the Guilderland gymnastics team took part in the Section 2 championships at Shaker High School. The Dutch performed well in all four events as they finished fourth with 156.150 points, and Simona Scavio qualified for states on the floor exercise.
