Three grassroots groups — Save the Pine Bush, the Guilderland Coalition for Responsible Growth, and the Rapp Road Historical — are raising funds to hire experts that will help them challenge Pyramid’s plans for development.

Nearly a year after approving the rezone of 107-109 Helderberg Ave., the Altamont Village Board again voted to rezone the property last month, placing Stewart’s Shops back on the path to get the permission it needs from the village’s other boards to build a new store. This week, the company made variance requests of the zoning board. 

Albany Country Club President Tom Cullinan told Guilderland’s Development Planning Committee that, while a proposed project to double the size of Weatherfield will not be age-restricted, it will be marketed to those age 50 and older. 

Pickleball courts, a pool, and a clubhouse are among the amenities proposed for a new residential development on Carman Road in Guilderland.

Hiawatha Trails Golf Course

The town has acquired a parcel behind the library that would allow it to continue the multi-use path to be built by the developer of the Hiawatha Trails project, extending the path as far as the library.

Amid complaints and allegations, the Knox Town Board failed to reach supermajority vote on proposed Multi-use Recreational District. 

The new street would bring more houses to the area, but it would not make the area into a “through street” leading anywhere else. 

The Rensselaerville Solar Committee met with the community for feedback on drafted solar energy system regulations.

A lawsuit brought against the New Scotland Zoning Board of Appeals and the town’s building inspector claims that a rejected 2018 application for a use variance was identical to a use variance approved by the zoning board just two years earlier, in 2016.
