Also  at the June meeting, Sheriff Craig Apple presented a roadside sign promoting awareness of bicyclists and walkers who share the road with cars.

GUILDERLAND — The Phillips family would like to reinvent the corner of routes 146 and 158, building a huge complex that would include a 50,400-square-foot indoor sports facility, a gas station with a drive-through restaurant, apartments, corporate offices, and an expanded hardware store.  

Hitmans Towing had been selling off equipment, thinking that a run-in with Knox zoning was going to end the towing business, when it was offered a chance to move to Altamont.

One law would permit a store similar to Westerlo’s The Original Applebees, now closed, and the other would change the minimum acreage requirements for farm uses from five to seven acres.
 

The town says the property at 7 Ayre Dr. in Guilderland, which was destroyed last January, could be an “attractive nuisance,” or a dangerous site.

Four of the town board’s five members, a supermajority, would have to support the allowance.

If the project does not go in, board members pointed out, the land can revert to its original business zoning.
