The Voorheesville Blackbirds girls’ volleyball team returned to the state championships — for the first time since 2013 after a four-year run — Saturday at the Glens Falls arena.
The Voorheesville Blackbirds needed one more win to be one of the final four teams, playing for the state championship in Glens Falls next Saturday. The Voorheesville team has knocked on the door to be champion several times before; the last time was in 2013.
Saturday’s thrilling Section 2 Class C sectional championship match between Voorheesville and Lake George was a nail-biter until the end when the Blackbirds, trailing at first, pulled out a victory — shrieking and leaping with joy.
On Saturday evening at Saratoga High School, the Voorheesville girls' Volleyball team battled with Lake George for the Class C championship which saw the Blackbirds win the title after being down two sets to none to win in five sets.
Anything can happen when it comes to sectional play: It’s win or go-home time. On Friday, the Voorheesville Blackbirds won while the Guilderland Dutchmen lost.
Inching closer to sectionals, the Guilderland and Voorheesville varsity volleyball teams are playing hard every game for a good seed during games on Thursday October 13th and October 21st respectively.
