GUILDERLAND — It’s been an “extremely busy year” for the Guilderland Industrial Development Agency, said Chief Executive Officer Donald Csaposs.

On May 16, school district voters will decided on a $1,171,500 Voorheesville Public Library budget for next year. The spending plan, after two years of no increase, is up slightly but still under the state’s tax levy limit.

GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland Public Library’s board of trustees has approved an operating budget for 2017-18 of $4,038,583, based on a tax levy of $3,689,217.

When the state budget was finalized, a week after deadline, the Voorheesville schools came out $55,000 ahead of what the governor had proposed in aid, allowing the addition of two part-time teachers.

The $35,000 to repair Guilderland’s 1800s cobblestone schoolhouse that was originally included in the superintendent’s draft budget has brought heated discussion.

The Berne-Knox-Westerlo School District received $100,000 more in state aid than it had budgeted for. After a debate over whether to use all the funds to reduce taxes, the board of education agreed on a 50-50 split between the tax levy and the district fund balance.

BERNE — A decision by the governor and the New York State legislature to extend the state’s current budget until May 31 has left many school districts concerned about how they will develop their own budgets without knowing the amount of state aid.

The gas station at 1667 Western Ave., next to Ted’s Fish Fry, was seized by the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance on Monday.
