After hearing from its accounting firm last week, the Rensselaerville Town Board decided to cautiously continue using the firm after state police charged the supervisor last month with writing checks to himself.

Organizational meetings in Rensselaerville and Westerlo and Rensselaerville included both resignations and appointments.

The Rensselaerville town board appointed a new councilman and supervisor after former supervisor Steve Pfleging admitted to embezzling town funds.

Rensselaerville Supervisor Steven Pfleging was charged Friday morning with stealing $13,000 from the town.

The proposed Rensselaerville budget for 2019 has an increase of about $33,000 in its general and highway funds. Increases of town workers’ wages drew the ire of some residents, but were defended by town officials as being increases on already low salaries.

The Rensselaerville Town Board will hold a public hearing on a proposed law that would allow the town to hire its building inspector and code-enforcement officer from outside the town.

On Sunday in Rensselaerville, at least 70 bikers took to the hills on a leisurely bike ride through four different distances.

RENSSELAERVILLE — Rensselaerville will hold its annual town-wide picnic on Sunday, June 10, from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Bayard Elsbree Park on Route 145 in Preston Hollow to celebrate the unity of its five hamlets: Cooksburg, Medusa, Preston Hollow, Potter Hollow, and Rensselaerville.
