NEW SCOTLAND — A year after a private fundraising campaign was launched to raise $1 million for a Thacher Park Center, more than half the goal has been reached, according to the Open Space Institute.

Family Danz Mechanical LLC of Albany was the low bidder for heating and ventilation work at Five Rivers Environmental Education Center in Delmar, according to a release from the state’s Office of General Services.

New Yorkers may sign up to volunteer at their favorite state park or historic site as part of the fourth annual I Love My Park Day to be held Saturday, May 2. John Boyd Thacher State Park in the Helderbergs is among the parks participating in the event.

Online registration is now open for the fourth annual I Love My Park Day, to be held on May 2 at state parks and historic sites across New York. Since its launch in 2012, the number of parks involved in I Love My Park Day has more than doubled, with the number of volunteers taking part tripling.

The town of Berne is inviting nominations for membership to the Board of the Game Farm Road Project.  This will be a working board comprised of seven individuals both eager and interested in the future of the property and its uses.

A master plan for New Scotland's Swift Road and Feura Bush parks has some features that could be accomplished with the work of town employees and volunteers; other features would require grant funding.

One of three contracts for the New Salem district failed to attract bidders. The town has the option to hire a company outright for the plumbing or complete the project with town employees.
