NEW SCOTLAND — A jury trial here is scheduled in July for Marcia Pangburn, arrested in Berne last summer for resisting arrest and obstructing governmental administration.

It’s early Sunday morning and I arrive at the home of Rich and Joanne Porter for another Town-wide Volunteer Day planning meeting.  Other cars are pulling up and I’m grateful. I had changed the time of the meeting via a panicked email the day before and I knew that I had probably disrupted some plans.

New Scotland Town-wide Volunteer Day needs volunteers for Saturday, May 2. With over a dozen projects reaching from the village of Voorheesville to Feura Bush and places in between, we need volunteers to commit to helping make the day a success.

In place of the LeVie barn, which has been used to store equipment by the Colonie Country Club, a lower structure is supposed to be built while the historic barn gets a new home.

Through lifestyle changes, a free program may help seniors stop the disease before it starts.

New property owners want to build two four-unit buildings on land where a previous owner's request was denied.

The money, obtained by the Open Space Institute, will be spent on “exhibitry and other interpretive projects to help people understand" the park's geology and history.

Residents here worked to preserve their history and their natural surroundings this year, while also preparing for future expansion and addressing current needs.
