Projects for all ages and abilities, volunteers needed

To the Editor:

New Scotland Town-wide Volunteer Day needs volunteers for Saturday, May 2. With over a dozen projects reaching from the village of Voorheesville to Feura Bush and places in between, we need volunteers to commit to helping make the day a success.

There are projects for all ages and abilities — from raking, planting flowers, and washing windows to heavier jobs like repairing steps, painting garages, and cleaning up the creek. When all is said and done, we expect to have 15 to 20 projects helping local seniors, two cemetery cleanups, and a debris removal in a few areas of the Vly Creek.

There are two shifts to volunteer, from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1 to 4 p.m. Can’t join us the entire time? No problem! Just let us know what time you can give.

Walk-ins will be welcome the day of the event, but it makes it easier to plan if you register in advance.  All volunteers are invited to enjoy a barbecue from noon to 1 p.m. at New Scotland Town Hall, which will also serve as the headquarters for all volunteer assignments for the day.

Bring a friend, co-workers, or your family, or come on your own. To register to volunteer, please send an email to porters@localnet.com or contact Rich or Joanne Porter at 765-4582. Once registered to volunteer, you will receive further instruction on the details of the day and projects.  We hope to see you there.
