On Sunday, Feb. 5, Guilderland, Voorheesville, and Berne-Knox-Westerlo competed in many events against the top Section 2 athletes at the McDonough Sports Complex on the campus of Hudson Valley Community College.

This past weekend, starting on Jan.27 thru Jan.30, Guilderland, Voorheesville, and Berne-Knox-Westerlo indoor track teams took to the track in an attempt to bring home Section 2 titles.

Guilderland, with a seasoned team, and Voorheesville, with a new indoor track team, both competed in the seven school Tri-Valley meet at Hudson Valley Community College in Troy on Sunday afternoon. The Blackbirds’ team has one junior and all the other athletes are younger.

The Guilderland Dutchmen indoor track team competed in the Section 2, Division 1 championships on Sunday at the University at Albany. The girls finished in third place with 79 points and had two sectional champions: Isabella Bruno and Hannah Durant. The boys finished eighth with 13 points.

The Guilderland Dutchmen indoor track team competed at Union College Saturday morning to start the season. The Dutch raced away from the competition by winning both the girls’ and boys’ titles; the girls’ team had 140 points while the boys’ had 130.50.

Guilderland jumpers Harrison Bickmore and Zaviir Berry will be competing at States for indoor track after winning high-jump and triple jump titles in Section 2. 

It was a strong winter for Guilderland indoor track; three athletes made the state competition.
