Smash-and-grab thieves have been targeting valuable items left in locked cars in the parking lots of YMCAs from Delmar to Glens Falls, police say.

On August 2nd at Tawasentha Park, the Guilderland Police Department held a National Night Out that sponsored games, local first responders and food.

The protest on May 14 against oil trains looked very different from the point of view of the women who rappelled from a train trestle and the first responders charged with getting them down.

GUILDERLAND — The Guilderland Police Department held emergency response drills, including classroom instruction and active shooter exercises, at the Guilderland High School on April 17 and 21.

“It was a real, live, tactical operating type of drill,” said Captain Curtis Cox.

A 17-year-old was taken by ambulance to Albany Medical Center after being extricated from her car on Oct. 10; police say the car was T-boned by a school bus after the 17-year-old failed to yield the right-of-way.

Howard Brent did not agree with the Guilderland Police Department’s approach to enforcing the proper use of the turning lane, calling the stationing of four police cars at the intersection “Gestapo-like” and saying the department must have issued “hundreds of tickets.”
