On Friday, Jan. 19, the Guilderland gymnastics team hosted Bethlehem for Senior Night at Lynnwood Elementary School. The Dutch showed off their grace and smiles but fell 154.575 to 150.375.

Last Thursday, Jan. 18, the Guilderland Dutchmen traveled to Averill Park to battle the Warriors. The Dutch competed hard in every match but fell 54 to 15.

On Sunday, Jan. 14, the Guilderland girls’ wrestling team competed in the first-ever Section 2 sectional championships to qualify for the New York State Girls Invitational at the SRC Arena and Events Center in Syracuse on Jan. 26.

On Saturday, Jan. 13, the Guilderland Indoor Track team participated in the Jack Reed Showcase at Nazareth College in Rochester. The girls’ team took the title with 101 points, 40 more than Corning, while the boys finished in 12th with 23 points.

On Saturday, Jan. 6, the Guilderland Nordic ski team competed in the Queensbury invitational at the North Creek Ski Bowl on Gore Mountain. The Dutch finally got their second race after a lack of snow and skied well; the boys finished fifth with 65 points and the girls ninth with 90 points.

Last Thursday, Jan. 4, the Guilderland bowling team hosted Troy at Town ’n’ Country lanes in Guilderland. The Dutch rode to a victory, 21 to 11 (3613-3326 in total pins), thanks to two big games.

Last Wednesday and Thursday, the Guilderland girls’ basketball team competed in the Mohonasen Kirvin Cup. The Dutch took on Scotia-Glenville on Wednesday, Dec. 27, and sailed away in the fourth quarter to win, 56 to 37.

In 2023, high school athletes gave us some jaw-dropping moments from winning their first sectional crown to bringing home a national championship — even after a decade of waiting to get back to the top.

On Saturday, Dec. 23, the Storm hockey team — composed of Guilderland, Voorheesville, Scotia-Glenville, Schalmont, and Mohonasen players — participated in the Applebee’s Winter Classic. The Storm battled all game long but couldn’t hold the lead and fell 9 to 7.

Last Thursday, Dec. 21, the Guilderland gymnastics team traveled to Bethlehem High School to take on the Eagles. The Dutch showed their grit and grace but fell 152.100 to 144.725.
