On Tuesday morning, Oct. 19, the Guilderland Dutch tennis team fielded two doubles teams and had two singles at the Section 2 individual sectionals held at Central Park tennis courts in Schenectady.
On Saturday, Sept. 18, Guilderland girls tennis battled Saratoga in a Suburban Council matchup at the University at Albany tennis courts. The Dutch’s main courts are under construction due to the capital project at the school. The Dutch fell 6-to-3.
This past week, the Guilderland and Voorheesville Girls tennis squads returned to their home courts to face local foes. Voorheesville lost to Academy of the Holy Names on Friday evening 6 to 1 while Guilderland lost to Niskayuna 5 to 4.
On Saturday morning at Tri-City Fitness and Tennis Center, Guilderland's top two tennis singles players competed against the States best players at the NYSPHSAA competition in Latham.
The Dutch girls’ tennis and field hockey players used their rackets and sticks to get past their opponents last week. The tennis team opened up sectional play on Tuesday afternoon at home as the number-one seed in Class AA and smashed Ballston Spa, 8 to 1.
Getting off on the right foot is key for the girls on Guilderland’s tennis and volleyball teams as they strive to get good seeds for sectional play in the coming weeks of the fall season. On Friday, both teams were in action.
It’s the end of the regular season for Guilderland field hockey and the start of individual sectional play for the girls’ tennis team. The Dutch field hockey team traveled to Shaker last Friday to play the Blue Bison and won, 2 to 1.
