The school district's business leader hopes that, by the time Guilderland gets serial bonds for its capital project "Moody will have noticed we've built back up our reserves."

"Both of these units were an absolute joy," the school district's negotiator said of Guilderland's office workers and teaching assistants.

The school superintendent said those retiring from Guilderland and those receiving tenure were like bookends. Both ends of the spectrum were honored at a festive ceremony on Tuesday.

The two top vote-getters on Tuesday, Christine Hayes and Seema Rivera, are friends and sister graduates of Guilderland.

Union organizers stayed on script for a rally where individuals brought their own words on what is ailing public education.

Members of the Guilderland Teachers’ Association — over 100 of them — turned out in force at Tuesday’s school board meeting.

"We actually have an election this year," said the school board president. Five candidates will vie for three board seats in the May 19 election.

GUILDERLAND — An extra $1.4 million in state aid led school leaders here to recommend changes for next year’s budget — putting $740,000 into savings and adding roughly $374,000 in expenses — measures school board members largely supported in a workshop Tuesday night.

Guilderland students spoke to the school board about the wonders of using applications and laptops by Google, tools that are more accessible out of class and which increase the exchanges between peers and teachers.
