Guilderland boys soccer

On Tuesday, Oct. 3, the Guilderland boys’ soccer team hosted Saratoga under the lights on the turf field at home. The Dutch battled hard to break through Saratoga’s defense but fell, 3 to 2.

On Friday, Oct. 27, the fourth-seeded Guilderland boys’ soccer team went to battle against the top-seeded in Section 2, Class AA in Saratoga. Guilderland held them close at half but then Saratoga took control to win 4 to 0.

On a windy afternoon, Sept. 22, the Guilderland boys’ soccer team hosted Christian Brothers Academy. The game went back and forth in the first half, but after halftime, the Dutch scored five unanswered goals to pull away and beat the Brothers, 6 to 1.

On Friday, Oct. 22, the Guilderland Dutchmen boys soccer team, the 6-seed, took to the pitch against Bethlehem, the 3rd seed, played in the quarterfinals in the Section 2, Class AA sectionals. The Dutch fell behind early but fought their way to a 2-to-1 upset win over the Eagles.

The undefeated Dutchmen faced off against Niskayuna at Snyder field Sept. 23. The Dutch led at the half but yielded the tying goal in the second half to end in a 1-1 draw. Earlier in the week, Guilderland Head Coach Mike Kinnally won his 200th game.

On Friday afternoon, Guilderland boy's soccer traveled to CBA in the regular season finale before the Suburban Council Championships. The Dutch rallied from 2-to-0 at half to win 3 to 2.

On Tuesday evening the Guilderland Dutchmen boys' soccer team not only battled Colonie but the rain as well. The Dutch fell 2-to-1.

On Saturday, Guilderland’s soccer teams held their Senior Day to honor players in their final year of the soccer program. The girls were first up on the pitch, playing against Shaker. The score went back and forth, taking the game into overtime — but ending in a tie: 2 to 2.

After convincing opening-round sectional wins, both the Guilderland and Voorheesville boys’ soccer teams played well but couldn’t muster a score in their quarterfinal losses.
