On Friday evening, May 13, the Voorheesville girls lacrosse team went to Catholic Central to play the Crusaders. The Blackbirds had a tough time breaking their defense and lost, 13 to 7.
On Friday afternoon, May 6, the Voorheesville Blackbirds took on Schalmont in a doubleheader at Dutchmen Field in Keenholts Park. In the first game, the Birds led twice but fell in the bottom of the eighth, 9 to 8.
On Tuesday, May 3, the Voorheesville Blackbirds took to the diamond at Mohonasen High School to take on the Warriors. The Birds could only muster three hits and fell 3-0.
On Wednesday, April 27, the new Voorheesville girls’ lacrosse team played against Catholic Central at home. Under the tutelage of head coach Monica Koralus, the young Birds beat the Crusaders, 11 to 6.
On Tuesday afternoon, April 26, the Voorheesville Blackbirds hit the track against Ichabod Crane, Schalmont, and Cohoes in a Quadrangular Meet at home. The boys’ team got swept against Ichabod Crane 60-71, Schalmont 48-83, and Cohoes 47-93.
On Thursday, April 21, the Voorheesville boys’ lacrosse team traveled to Lansingburgh to take on the Knights. The game had to be suspended due to a Lansingburgh player getting injured and taken to the hospital. The Birds won, 9 to 1, after the game was not made up.
On Saturday, Apr. 2, the Voorheesville baseball team opened their season at Watervliet on a sunny cold day. The Birds used a big sixth inning to pull away and beat the Cannoneers 17-4.
On Friday, March 4, the Guilderville swim team — made up of boys from Guilderland and Voorheesville — competed in the preliminary round of the New York State Public High School Athletic Association championships at Ithaca College. Guilderville finished 22nd overall out of 147 schools.
The Voorheesville boys’ volleyball team faced off against fourth-seeded Chatham at Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk High School for the Section 2 Class C sectional semifinals on Tuesday, March 1.
On Friday, Feb. 18, the Guilderville boys swim team, made up of Guilderland and Voorheesville athletes, took to the pool at Shenendehowa Aquatic Center for the Section 2, Division 1 sectional championship.
