It was senior night for the Mohonasen softball on Tuesday, June 1. The Blackbirds started off well in the first three innings but the Warriors’ talented team took over after that. Two big innings cost the Blackbirds in making a comeback and fell 9-to-3.

Last Thursday, May 27, the Voorheesville baseball team hosted the Sabres of Schalmont at home. The Sabres’ bats and patience at the plate helped them take advantage of the Birds’ mistakes and opened up an 11 to 1 lead. The Birds attempted a comeback but fell 11 to 5.

The Voorheesville Blackbirds’ Track n’ Field track traveled to Cohoes High School in Cohoes on Saturday, May 15, for a triangular meet against Cohoes and Catholic Central. The girls’ team swept both schools 94-to-8 against Cohoes and 87-to-25 over Catholic Central.

On Tuesday, May 11, the Voorheesville Blackbirds boys’ lacrosse team faced off against Lansingburgh at home on the satellite field. A brief shower came through the first quarter but that didn’t damper the Blackbirds offense. Voorheesville won easily, 13-to-3.

On Saturday, April 17, the Voorheesville Blackbirds football team took on crosstown rival Helderberg Valley, made up of players from Berne-Knox-Westerlo and Duanesburg, from the opening kickoff to the final whistle at Clayton A. Bouton. The Blackbirds won 37 to 13.

On Saturday April 10th the Voorheesville Blackbirds Girls and Boys Cross-Country team took to their course at Swift Town Park in Voorheesville against Cobleskill-Richmondville.

The Voorheesville Boys soccer team coming off a 13-day pause got back onto the pitch on Tuesday afternoon, April 13, against Schalmont at Schalmont High School in Rotterdam. After a back and forth first half, the Blackbirds dominated the second half to push past the Sabres 3 to 1.

The young Voorheesville Girls volleyball team had their home opener and first game in Fall Sports 2 on March 19. Volleyball is categorized as a “high-risk” sport, but the team was finally able to play.

The Voorheesville girls’ soccer team got their official home opener on March 23 facing Cohoes. The Colonial Council put off soccer from the fall to the fall sports II season. The Blackbirds won, 2-to-1, with Lily Farrell and Emma Farrell scoring both goals.

On March 4th, the Voorheesville Boys basketball team held their Senior Night at Clayton A. Bouton High School. The Blackbirds honored their six seniors and five senior cheerleaders before the game against Colonial Council foe Schalmont.
