Teddy and me: A little girl holds tight to her brown bear as Mrs. Claus reads a Christmas story Sunday at the New Salem fire Department’s sixth annual Teddy Bear Tea. Tea sandwiches and dainty treats were served with delicious blended teas.

To the Editor:

On Dec. 15, the New Salem Volunteer Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary hosted its sixth Annual Teddy Bear Tea with Mrs. Claus.  Tea sandwiches, Christmas cookies, tea, and hot chocolate, all prepared by the auxiliary, were enjoyed with the 35 children and 35 adults in attendance.

Mrs. Claus read to the children and answered their questions about the North Pole — a wonderful time was had by all. Mrs. Gingerbread and Santa Claus made a surprise visit and gifts were handed out to all.

Thank you for the support of all the parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends who stayed to enjoy the tea with us.

Thank you to Mrs. Claus, Santa, Mrs. Gingerbread, and the members of both the auxiliary and the fire department who helped make our Teddy Bear Tea such a wonderful community event.  We also would like to thank the many volunteers and elves who gave of their time to assist us.

In appreciation, the New Salem Auxiliary would like to thank Hannaford Supermarket and Falvo’s Meat Market in Voorheesville along with ShopRite of Slingerlands for their generous donations of food items for our event.

Shirley Unser, president
New Salem Volunteer Fire Department Ladies’ Auxiliary
