The Berne-Knox-Westerlo Little League is thrilled to announce our involvement in the 2014 Berne Summerfest on Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Berne town park.  The league will once again be a large part of Summerfest with a full slate of activities leading up to the annual fireworks show.

This year, the town of Berne has graciously selected our organization as the beneficiary of the barbecue fundraiser.  Barbecue Delights of Schoharie will be cooking chicken, pulled pork, and spare ribs from 4 p.m. until supplies are gone.

With only a limited amount of food available without pre-ordering, we are encouraging people to purchase their meal tickets now!  Meal tickets may be purchased at the Fox Creek Market in Berne and at Countryside Mobil in East Berne.  Full dinners are only $10 per person and a pulled-pork sandwich, half-chicken, or plate of ribs is only $7 each.

All of the proceeds from this event will be reinvested into the league to purchase new equipment, repair fields, and help fund off-season clinics for our kids.

Back by popular demand, our annual Home Run Derby returns this year to include kids, and adults, of all ages. Kids ages 13 and under can take their turn at bat between 1 and 3:30 p.m.  A softball game for volunteers, parents, and sponsors, at 4 p.m., will be followed by the much anticipated Teen and Adult Home Run Derbies.

We will have our concession stand open all day with plenty of cold drinks and snacks, along with grilled hamburgers and hotdogs.  There will also be drawings throughout the day, including a free 2015 regular-season registration coupon for a player in BKW Little League
