Odyssey of the Mind lets students reach higher, learn more, and showcase their creative talents
To the Editor:
On behalf of Voorheesville School District’s Odyssey of the Mind program and our middle school team, I want to extend our thanks to all who supported our recent raffle fund-raiser. To those who hosted our table, donated prizes, bought tickets, or generously put cash in our donation bucket, thank you for contributing to the success of the program!
We are fortunate to live in a community that values excellence in education. Extracurricular programs like Odyssey of the Mind give students opportunities to reach higher, learn more, and showcase their creative talents. That’s no small thing. Odyssey participants learn life lessons about the value of teamwork, persistence, ingenuity, and resourcefulness.
Six teams, comprised of 38 students, participated in Voorheesville’s Odyssey of the Mind program this year. Two teams competed at the New York State tournament and both placed fourth in their divisions. We’re proud of our success, but we also recognize that it takes broad community support to build a strong program.
Thank you to the Parent Teacher Association, the Voorheesville Central School District, the Voorheesville Community and School Foundation, and community for continuing to invest in our students and in the Odyssey of the Mind program.
