You can still sign up for the healthiest food around

To the Editor:

I regret to announce that the Helderberg Hilltowns Association has decided not to continue the Hilltowns Market at the Masonic Hall in Berne for the coming year. We are very grateful to the Masons for making their building available to us for the past two years, and for the many local vendors who loyally brought their products for sale.

Unfortunately, we were unable to attract enough customers to make the project economically feasible for everyone.

For those who would like to continue to purchase foods grown by their neighbors on the Hill, there are many farms that offer Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) shares. These provide customers with fresh produce, eggs, meats, herbs and spices, and other items each week.

Farms with shares available for the 2014 season are:  Patroon Land Farm, Longfield Farm, Gordon Farms, Newcombs Farm, Baitsholts Farm, Crosby Farm, Eight Mile Creek Farm, Heather Ridge Farm, Raven Crest Botanicals, Lady Liberty Farm, and Otter Hook Farm.

Links and contact information for these CSA providers can be found on our website www.Hilltowns.org; just click the Helderberg Hilltowns Association icon on the left, scroll down to Hilltown Resources and click on the CSA — Community Supported Agriculture/Farm Shares link.

Check out the farms and contact one near you to sign up for the healthiest food around.

If you’re too busy to travel to pick up your items, you can have your fresh produce delivered to your door by Farmie Market at www.farmiemarket.com.
