Please consider sharing what you have with others
To the Editor:
“There is nothing more important than ensuring that our neighbors have enough to eat.” This thought was shared in a note written by a generous donor during the Helderberg Family and Community Organization’s 2021 Spring Food Drive.
The HFCO is once again proud to team up with Rock Road Chapel, Hugs from the Hilltowns, Hilltowns Community Resource Center, and the Switzkill Valley Volunteers to help feed our neighbors and to provide Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for those who could use a little help.
We are all facing the challenges that the much higher grocery and fuel prices are having on our budgets. These challenges are especially hard on seniors and families with limited incomes. Would you please consider sharing what you have with others?
Our 2022 Fall Food Drive will be held from Oct. 11 through Nov. 6. Nonperishable food items may be dropped off during regular business hours at the:
— Altamont Country Values (Agway);
— True Value Hardware (East Berne);
— Fox Creek Market (Berne);
— Westerlo Public Library (Westerlo); and
— Berne Public Library (Berne).
Food and monetary donations will also be accepted at the Havoc Softball Tournament on Oct. 29 at the Knox Town Park from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Please also note the Berne Fire Department Auxiliary will be collecting food items during its annual Fall Craft/Vendor Fair on Saturday, Nov. 12 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
If you prefer, monetary donations may be sent to HFCO, Post Office Box 115, Knox, NY, 12107. Please note “Food Drive” in the memo line of your check. All donations will be used, in their entirety, to help feed our neighbors.
We thank you for your consideration and your kindness.
