I’ve tried to have a tough mind and a tender heart

To the Editor:

In your editorial, “Celebrate Juneteenth to make sure our history doesn’t disappear,” you cite Anne Pope’s questions: “What have I done to answer the calls of justice and equality?” and “What have you done to make things better?”

Then you ask us to write to you with our answers to the question (and maybe start a movement): “What have I done to make things better?”

So my answer is that I’ve tried to have a tough mind and a tender heart as Martin Luther King described in his sermon you can read here: bit.ly/4kQqyRy.
