Recall Berne history through life stories
To the Editor:
The Berne Historical Society is extending an open invitation to the community to join us for “Meet, Greet and Share” at 6 p.m. on Monday, June 30, at the Berne Public Library, remembering Berne history through our personal life stories and experiences.
Businesses that were here and businesses that are still trucking along, buildings that were and buildings that are standing strong, family homes and their build dates as well as occupants in the homes history, local legends and lore, farms and barns.
Bring photos, family Bibles, maps, and your remembrances as we explore our stories. If you grew up in Berne or are a transplant, you are part of Berne's history.
Let’s see what bubbles up as we remember Little League, Duke’s Dairy Bar, the Maple Inn, Benny’s also known as Restseeker’s Inn, Empie’s Food Market.
Save room for refreshments.
Also, on June 29, from 1 to 3 p.m, the Berne Museum located upstairs in the Berne Town Hall located at 1656 Helderberg Trail will be open for visitors.
Thank you and hope to see you on the trail.
