Do not split our ‘reasonable’ vote

To the Editor:
If you live in the Greenville School District, I encourage you to vote in a very critical school board election on May 17 and urge you to support candidates Jay Goodman and Dave Finch.

There are six candidates vying for two open seats. However, there are two candidates that stand out from the rest — the incumbents, Dave Finch and Jay Goodman.

Finch and Goodman are running on a platform that keeps the focus on education. In addition to the experience they bring as board members for the last three years, with Jay’s background as an attorney and Dave’s background as a teacher, they also bring invaluable experience with law and education.

They have a proven history of creating fair, balanced budgets while not compromising their first priority, the education of the students. They vote with transparency, a listening ear, and a voice of reason.

They have served diligently on our board during this turbulent pandemic period, sometimes under a great deal of stress from highly emotionally-charged parents and they have done so with dignity and respect for others. Their willingness to serve another term after all this is a testament to their character. To learn more about Finch and Goodman, please visit www.goodmanfinch.com.

I further encourage you to be an informed voter by watching the “Meet the Candidates” forum by visiting https://www.greenvillecsd.org/article/726348. In addition to meeting Finch and Goodman, you will also meet the other four candidates, two of whom are running on a dangerous far-right agenda (for more on their agenda, please visit www.JamesBucci.com).

The last two candidates, Elaine Dykeman and Glenn Yelich, are also running on platforms similar to Finch and Goodman, making them appealing to the more “informed/reasonable” voter as well. However, to not split our “reasonable” vote, I’m sure you will agree the experience and knowledge Finch and Goodman offer make them stand out from the rest and more deserving of our support.

Don’t become complacent thinking this vote doesn’t affect you or by thinking others will carry the vote; the future of our community is at stake.

Vote for experience and education. Vote for Jay Goodman and Dave Finch on May 17.
